We encourage the spirit of community and the shared values of kindness and openness.

Philosophy

Schools are for children! At HDS, all decisions, plans and programs are designed to support a learning environment that promotes exploration, curiosity, confidence, independence, a sense of belonging and the foundation for a lifelong love of learning!

We nurture a love for discovery, learning, and laughter.

Vision

HDS is a place filled with love, laughter and learning where children discover through play and participation in purposeful experiences to grasp new concepts and skills. Parents work together with teachers to support and enrich each classroom. Hoboken Day School strives to be a safe, nurturing, age appropriate environment where through play and theme-based experiences each child will grow socially, emotionally, and cognitively for a successful transition to “real school” and life beyond.

Meet Our Team

Kristie Pasculli, Director

Our Director, Kristie, has over 22 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. After graduating from St. Joseph’s University with a BA in Elementary Education, Kristie began her teaching career in Hoboken as the Head Pre-K4 teacher at a private school. The following year, she was hired by the Hoboken Public Schools as a Kindergarten teacher at Wallace where she earned her reputation as a fun, loving and dedicated educator. She spent 4 years there while also working towards her master’s degree in special education. She then taught first grade at Connors School before being recruited and hired to be the director of another prominent Hoboken day care center.

Kristie says, “After becoming a mom, I began to think of childcare differently. I asked myself, ‘what would I want in a center to make me feel as comfortable as possible leaving my baby?  How would I want to be treated as a working parent? What kind of relationships would I want with the people caring for my baby?’ It was then, in 2011, that she founded and opened Hoboken Little School which is still operating today.

Kristie proudly lives in Hoboken with her son and two cockapoos. Her favorite part about living in town is running into former students and their families. In addition to her commitment to provide quality, dependable childcare to the families in Hoboken, Kristie is also passionate about her non-profit, Project Blue Bag.  Project Blue Bag is a collaboration with the Hoboken Police Department that equips HPD patrol cars with “sensory backpacks”. These backpacks are used by officers when dealing with children or neurodiverse individuals to help calm, regulate, diffuse, and resolve sensitive situations. Be on the lookout for police cars with a blue dot on the rear window- that’s Project Blue Bag! Kristie brings her love of children, education, and the community to life at Hoboken Day School and can’t wait to meet your family! She can be reached at kristie@hobokendayschool.com.
